US 6 Lake Creek Replacement
This project included the replacement of the existing bridge across Lake Creek. The new bridge is a 100-foot-long, single-span precast girder bridge with precast deck panels and cast-in-place topping slab on driven pile foundation, with cast-in-place approach slab work and steel railing. The project included detour embankment and roadway grading/paving, landscaping, bridge demolition, traffic control, drainage features, and wood fence for adjacent pedestrian trail. Located in an environmentally sensitive area, spanning Lake Creek, containment was built to accommodate bridge demolition activities, and the stream was diverted to accommodate rip rap installation.
Overall, the project exceeded expectations in various facets and produced an aesthetically pleasing and safe improvement for the travelling public. The project management team and contractor partnered to identify solutions to challenges through open communication and maintaining flexibility in solving problems. Hamilton took every opportunity to meet or exceed the Owner’s expectations, whether performing contract work or extra work. Hamilton’s superintendent was recognized by the Colorado Contractors Association and CDOT for excellence in project management. |
