Seward Highway: Trail RV, Falls CR & Ptarmigan Bridge Replacement
Hamilton was the prime contractor selected for this remote location project that replaced three bridges on the Seward Highway including two 149-foot-long, single span bridges; and a three span, 383-foot-long structure.
Our first winter onsite saw one of the largest snow falls every recorded in central Alaska. This could have caused delay to the project, however, Hamilton mobilized on time and removed snow utilizing snow berms as part of the SWPPP. Hamilton implemented an accelerated schedule, working seven days a week, increasing production, and producing the project on schedule, under budget, and with zero claims. Traffic was maintained throughout project with minimal impact to the public using a number of strategies: advanced communication, night shifts and staged construction during the busy tourist season. Hamilton used our girder launcher to accelerate the project and further minimize traffic impacts at Falls Creek. |
